New technology, new food
Since I’ve been slow starting the new year, I’ve had time to think about new technology. I have had a pc forever but I also have an iPhone and and iPad and had time to think about “what if all of my items could talk to each other easily”? Luckily new food involves cooking which I’m pretty comfortable around.
My husband has been tech support and he does not have any Apple devices. I brought up the topic with him, we looked online, went to the store and I now have a new Mac. I so far love it, just am thankful that I have the time to change over and learn new things – no mouse!
First and biggest for me was to make sure I could use my recipe software. I upgraded to MasterCook 15 and transferred all of my recipes! Since I’ve been a personal chef for 18 years, I had history that I needed. Worked well! And I am already familiar with MasterCook.
Next I needed all of my Quickbooks, Word files, Excel, documents of all types. Done! Monday I used the Mac to create a menu for my customer and to email it to her. It worked! Although I did text her and ask her to check what I thought had worked. I knew texting her worked.
Today is picture day. So I took one this morning to see how it imported from the camera, I’m good on the idevices, and I think I’m set with pictures now. My test subject was sleeping.
I’ve been able to spend some time on my knitting and am making progress. I started a nine week long project in October of 2013. I knew I would probably not make it in 9 weeks, my end of year is always busy with work. I am happy to announce that this week I started on week 9! Yes, it’s been over two years. I think this year is the year to finish that 9 week project.
I have time to experiment with new food, have always wanted to try arancini, and had leftover risotto! Lunch experiment! Husband was happy to participate.
I’ve been craving spinach, not a bad thing, last week I used lots of spinach and it’s continuing this week. This Spinach And Herb Torta was great, a little bit of work but not difficult.
I like variety in my meals so went to Thai on Thursday. Thai is a favorite and since I had a personal chef day I wanted easy also, Halibut with Thai Red Sauce was perfect. I made a couple changes – I used mahi mahi since it was in the freezer and did not use thyme. I served over rice.
Today I need to make a carrot cake for Life Group and some soup, we’re going to Costco to stock up, maybe out to lunch and I have my menu done for next week. Last week it took me two days to plan, nothing was jumping out at me. This morning I picked up Paleo Takeout and finished the weekly plan while still in the Chinese chapter! I spent about 20 minutes planning.
Time to get moving!
